Residency Requirement: There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. This residency requirement states that candidates must have, for three of the last five years immediately prior to applying for this position; (1) resided in the United States; OR (2) worked for the United States Government as an employee overseas in a Federal or Military capacity, OR (3) been a dependent of a U.S. Federal or Military employee serving overseas.
Probationary Period: You may be required to serve a probationary period of 1 year.

This announcement is issued under the Direct Hire Authority to recruit for positions for which the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, has a critical hiring need.

- Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
GS-14: You qualify at the GS-14 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties:
- Analyzing systems in order to build and improve IT system or product quality, to accurately represent customer requirements, to present recommendations for adoption of new methodologies, and to lead implementation activities in AI systems, technologies, and integrations.
- Ensuring responsible and secure integration of AI technologies with IT programs and services; developing solutions to integration and interoperability issues and managing systems meeting current and future business requirements and apply and extend, enhance, or optimize the existing architecture.
- Leading cross-functional and distributed teams while building and fostering trust, respect, and collaboration to accomplish goals, develop and maintain effective team communications and collaboration, and contribute to team performance and success.

The duty location and actual salary extended at the tentative job offer is based on the grade, step, and address identified in your application package. Remote workers are not required to report to the USCIS worksite on a regular basis but may be required to come to the worksite periodically, based on the needs of the hiring office.
