Summary

The Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Inspector General (OIG) is currently looking for an Information Technology Specialist to serve within the Information Technology Division delivering a wide variety of IT support and contractor oversight to enable the OIG mission. Join our team of IT professionals as we support DOE's mission through enabling performance and financial audits, inspections of management issues, administrative allegations, and investigations into alleged violations of law.

Duties

As an Information Technology Specialist, you will:

  • Contribute to the DOE/IG IT strategic planning process providing expert insight, advise, and guidance to the IG IT Director and other Senior officials within the IG.
  • Serve as Contracting Office Technical Representative on a variety of DOE/OIG Information Technology contracts.
  • Manage a wide range of specialized IT responsibilities, including cybersecurity, project management, data management, systems administration, and policy planning.
  • Provide planning and management services while strictly adhering to information security and cybersecurity policies.
  • Prepare and deliver briefings on assigned projects and programs to the leadership.
  • Work closely with the cybersecurity team to assess and address vulnerabilities, and conduct annual accreditation and authorization evaluations.
  • Manage research projects to analyze business processes and pinpoint areas requiring process enhancement.
  • Deliver expeditious, high-quality, IT customer service across all tiers of the IT support spectrum.

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT: For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting 2 of the 3 following:

  1. Delivering IT end-user support on a wide variety of IT specialties to include end-points, applications, storage, data transport, and cyber security.
  2. Providing support in the development of IT strategic planning documents, standard operating procedures, service level agreements, and end-user "how-to" documentation.
  3. Utilizing applications, including Microsoft PowerApps, Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, ServiceNow, or PowerBI, to collect and analyze data.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-13) in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting 3 of the 4 following:
  1. Coordinating and prioritizing schedules and tasks as the project manager for information systems and serving as lead in the development of IT strategic planning initiatives.
  2. Managing and providing direct oversight of IT service delivery, to include contracted IT support.
  3. Performing information cybersecurity and risk activities, to include reviewing initiatives, policies, procedures, and programs, to protect Departmental systems and remediating vulnerabilities.
  4. Solving challenging problems related to data management and system issues, for stakeholder and customer needs.
