Summary

As an Information Technology Specialist (Accessibility) at the GS-2210-13, you will be part of the Information Governance and Strategy Division (IGSD), Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). If selected, you will serve as the Section 508 Program Manager and Ergonomics Program Manager, who is responsible for the daily operational management of the agency's IT Accessibility Section 508 Program.

Duties

  • Provides technical guidance on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) accessibility, supports enterprise planning, leads testing and remediation workflows, and delivers training on Section 508 and ergonomics requirements.
  • Manages the ergonomics program by coordinating assessments, identifying risks, evaluating workstations, providing evidence-based recommendations, and tracking follow-ups, ensuring documentation aligns with IGSD’s governance role.
  • Conducts and coordinates Section 508 accessibility assessments and ergonomic evaluations, tracking remediation with system owners, supervisors, and reasonable accommodation points of contact.
  • Provides Tier-3 troubleshooting and support for accessibility and assistive technology, and Tier-2/3 expertise in configuring ergonomic equipment, adjusting workstations, and resolving complex, user-specific ergonomic needs.
  • Conducts research on emerging accessibility tools, standards, and best practices; recommends solutions to enhance accessibility posture.
  • Performs Contracting Officer’s Representative duties at the COR-I level or higher, supporting information technology accessibility services, assistive technology acquisitions, and broader information technology service contracts.

Qualifications

IT-related experience; experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. Experience must have demonstrated each of the four competencies listed below.

  2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services and is committed to providing quality products and services.
  3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

For the GS-13: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the federal service. Specialized experience includes managing Section 508 and ergonomics program operations; conducting Information and Communication Technology (ICT) accessibility and ergonomic assessments; providing Tier-3 troubleshooting to resolve accessibility and ergonomic issues; reviewing ICT and ergonomic procurement packages for Section 508 compliance; performing Contracting Officer's Representative (COR-I) duties and monitoring contractor performance; coordinating with cross-functional stakeholders; and preparing reports, metrics, and documentation supporting program compliance and improvement.

Merit promotion applicants must meet time-in-grade requirement as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS- 13 level.
