Summary

This position is located in the Office of the Chief Information Officer at the U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC), serving as the Information Technology Specialist (DATAMGT) responsible for administering all database technology, both structured and unstructured, at the USITC.

Duties

  • Ensures the ongoing operation, administration, maintenance and security of production and non-production database environments.
  • Implements and uses tools to check and monitor the health, security, usage and performance of enterprise database environments following Federal IT and cybersecurity policies as well as industry standards and best practices.
  • Provides support for implementing new software applications and underlying information databases following an Agile-based Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Supports maintenance and timely security updates of all network infrastructure hosting databases and database technology.
  • Responds to and completes ad-hoc data requests from stakeholders to support agency mission objectives.
  • Supports research, evaluation, analysis, acquisition and implementation of 3rd-party technologies supporting database environments such as cloud-based technologies, containerization and business intelligence tools.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify at the GS-14 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience obtained in the private or public sector that is equivalent to the GS-13 level. Specialized experience is defined as

  • Ensuring the ongoing operation, administration, maintenance and security of production and non-production databases running PostGreSQL and MongoDB database management systems in a Linux-based environment; and
  • Implementing and using tools to check and monitor the health, security, usage and performance of enterprise database environments following IT and cybersecurity policies, such as FISMA, as well as industry standards and best practices; and
  • Providing support for implementation of new software systems and underlying information databases, to include designing, implementing and integrating databases containing both structured and unstructured data, following an Agile-based SDLC; and
  • Supporting maintenance and timely security updates and patching of all network infrastructure, database management technologies and other software which supports hosting databases to effectively ensure the high availability, integrity and confidentiality of the data.

Education

At the GS-14 level: There is no substitution of education for experience at this level.
