Duties

The purpose of this assignment is to serve as an Intelligence Research Specialist within the Analysis Division which will require the incumbent to advance the objectives of the office and serve as a technical expert in her/his area(s) of expertise and responsibility.

This is not a temporary promotion opportunity.

Duties:

  1. Production of assessments that occasionally contain findings of significance to component and agency leadership; identification of intelligence gaps or problems to be addressed; and recommendation of the appropriate, established intelligence gathering practices.
  2. Responsible for identifying, reviewing, and evaluating large volumes of sensitive and complex information in support of strategic, operational, or tactical operations.
  3. Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, conducting studies, preparing reports, and delivering briefings to managers and operators to enhance understanding and acceptance of findings and recommendations.
  4. Preparation of decision papers, studies, and recommendations with minimal supervisory oversight within the specialty area.
  5. Responsible for applying a full range of analytical knowledge, skills, and abilities to provide intelligence products in support of operations.

Qualifications

Qualifications required:
  1. Knowledgeable of CBP Intelligence Enterprise (IE) borders security mission, functions, processes, policies, regulations, authorities, and partnerships in all the following areas:
  2. Knowledge of the use of both raw and finished intelligence production to support operations.
  3. Skilled in IC systems, databases, and message traffic at all levels of security classification used to gather and develop content for analytic products and briefings to provide situational awareness for decision makers and operators.
  4. Ability to use critical thinking techniques and structured analysis methods to mitigate bias; intelligence questions validation processes; and critical reading techniques to review intelligence information.
  5. Ability to apply intelligence tactics, techniques and procedures required to produce complex analyses and products within a specifically defined geographical, functional or threat area of responsibility.
