Summary
Joining the Secret Service, Office of Protective Operations, allows you to serve as a Lead Investigative Protection Officer. This position supports an integrated protective and investigative mission(s) which plans, directs, coordinates, and implements domestic and international protective and investigative policies, programs and operations of the Secret Service.
Duties
The selectee will serve as the Lead Investigative Protection Officer in the Office of Protective Operations, William Clinton Division or Obama Protective Division. The duties for this position includes:
- Maintains a designated security post implementing appropriate protective instructions and procedures and restricts access to secure areas to authorized personnel.
- Inspects all operational, safety, emergency, and convenience equipment of protective vehicles to ensure peak operating conditions.
- Determines vulnerable areas and initiates physical security inspections to determine compliance with established requirements.
- Prepares physical security reports outlining deficient areas and recommends corrective actions.
- Assigns, oversees, and reviews the work of team members; identifies team and/or program resource requirements; enhances team members' performance and professional development.

The Lead Investigative Protection Officer starts at $101,401 (GS-12, step 01), with potential to $135,773 (GS-12, step 10).
