Duties

The Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) provides operations support services and business solutions to the community of 10,000 House Members, Officers and staff. The CAO organization comprises more than 650 technical and administrative staff working in a variety of areas, including information technology, finance, budget management, human resources, payroll, child care, food and vending, procurement, logistics and administrative counsel. 

Job Summary:

This role serves as Lead Project Designer by planning, managing, and monitoring activities of the various House related furniture projects, office visit consultations, and renovations and relocation requests in an efficient and effective manner that result in successful outcomes to stakeholders and customers. Oversees the day-to-day Furniture Resource Management Design Departmental operations.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Leading the planning, managing, and monitoring Furniture Resource Management projects
  • Tracking project progress 
  • Coordinating with other personnel both internal and external in support of project progress
  • Assessing contract support levels
  • Creating accurate furniture plans with CAD and visually effective presentations with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Providing excellent and consistent customer service
  • Serving as an expert in furniture provided by the House, including reconfiguration, maintenance, and installation best practices
  • Serving as a mentor and trainer to colleagues
  • Plans, schedules, and processes requests for CAO project related activities and tracks and monitors the progress to ensure activities are on target according to schedule and resources.
  • Using architectural plans to complete office designs; provides guidance and insight on floor plans, item placement, and the usage of various materials.
  • Performs other official duties as assigned.

This role does not have day-to-day supervisory duties

Qualifications

  • 4 years of relevant experience 
  • Bachelor'/Master's degree in Interior Design or a related field
  • Software competency in AutoCAD (or similar CAD software), Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative suite. 
  • Demonstrated competency in written and oral presentation skills. 
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team. 
  • Proficient in project management skills, especially workload prioritization and customer service.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing requirements and fulfill customer needs.
