Minimum qualifications for trades and labor positions are determined by evaluation of job elements. You must meet at least 2 points on the screen-out element(s) and obtain an average of at least 2 points on all of the job elements in order to be considered qualified for this position.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Physical Efforts and Working Conditions:
Incumbent must be in good physical condition. Works on ladders, scaffolding, and platforms where systems and equipment are located. Works in hard-to-reach places, stands, stoops, bends, kneels, climbs, and works in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently handles, lifts, carries, and sets up parts and equipment that weigh up to 80 pounds in the performance of assigned duties with supporting PPE. Occasionally lifts and carries items that weigh over 80 pounds with assistance.
The incumbent is exposed to all kinds of weather extremes and temperatures. Works inside or outside, and subject to heat, cold, and inclement weather. Exposed to dirt, grease, noise, odor, smoke, and fumes. Frequently exposed to the possibility of strains, cuts, scrapes, bruises, burns, and electrical shock. Working conditions are considered in the evaluation of this job. Incumbent works on ladders, scaffolding and on 90-foot aerial lifts. The position is subject to noise and vibrations, gases, and fumes, dirt and dust from operating various power and hand tools and equipment. The incumbent is designated as an "Emergency Essential" employee and is required to report to work during hazardous weather conditions and emergencies when other government agencies are excused from reporting to work. The incumbent is responsible for making immediate decisions during emergencies. This work may be done in collaboration with contractors or staff from other disciplines. The incumbent will sustain effort during emergencies until they are controlled and contained and will then notify supervisors and relay instructions to qualified mechanics on the next shift. Incumbent may be required to work overtime with little or no prior notice.
