Summary

This position is located in the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department in the Navy Region Southwest. The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of semi-skilled labor and cleaning tasks. Incumbent is assigned to unaccompanied housing located at Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake.

Duties

Performs various cleaning duties including but not limited to:

  • Scrubs, strips, waxes, and polishes floors using heavy powered scrubbers and buffer.
  • Vacuum clean-rugs, using heavy vacuum cleaner. Adjusts, cleans, and oils these machines and changes brushes and rollers.
  • Washes and replaces blinds, changes light bulbs and ceiling fans.
  • Moves heavy furniture. supplies and equipment. Keeps rest rooms in clean, orderly and sanitary condition. Cleans, disinfects and deodorizes lavatories, urinals, and toilet bowls.
  • Cleans mirrors, sinks and water fountains. Dusts ledges and woodwork. Replaces deodorizers, toilet tissue, hand towels, and soap.
  • Maintains a stock of cleaning materials and equipment and notifies supervisor when more is needed.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Conditions of Employment

  • Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
  • Must meet federal suitability requirements including successful completion of background investigation.
  • Must enroll in direct deposit.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and skill sufficient to read signs, follow simple oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work safely while moving lightweight objects.
  • Ability to use powered equipment and perform minor maintenance on this equipment.
  • Ability to learn safety data sheets.
