Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Maintenance Worker without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common mechanics, plumbing, painting and/or welding. I can maintain, repair, and overhaul various mechanical equipment/machines, and use electrical test devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, growlers, and meggers to perform basic checks. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. -

- Physical Effort: Frequently handles objects weighing 45 pounds and occasionally carries objects weighing 45 pounds and over. Required to push, pull, reach, walk, and stand for prolonged periods; crawl, kneel, bend, and work in cramped positions over and under machinery for sustained periods of time.
- Working Conditions: Performs work inside and outside. Floor and deck surfaces are sometimes uneven, oily, and slippery. Frequently exposed to moving objects and sharp edges with the possibility of cuts and bruises, and to noise and vibration from machines. Subject to electrical shock, changing climatic conditions, water hazards and loud noises. Occasionally climb and work from ladders and scaffoldings exposing to the possibility of serious injury from slipping and falling. Dirt, grease, fumes, dust and dampness are frequently encountered. Works around heavy machinery, with and around power shop equipment. Various protective devices such as hard hats, gloves, safety shoes, and glasses are used.
