Summary

This position is located in Government Accountability Office (GAO), Homeland Security and Justice (HSJ) Team. As the lead GAO team supporting congressional oversight of the Departments of Homeland Security (DHS) and Justice (DOJ), HSJ provides timely analyses, recommendations, and policy options to congressional and executive branch officials to improve federal policies and programs that deal with a wide variety of domestic and international homeland security, justice and law enforcement issues.

Duties

As aManagement Analyst, PT, 0343, 2, your typical work assignments may include the following:

  • Use qualitative and quantitative analytical skills to analyze, evaluate, and improve the efficiency of internal administrative, organizational, or management operations.
  • Analyze a variety of operations data to support technical operations and develop recommendations to support team initiatives and briefs those recommendations to HSJ management.
  • Develop and maintains databases and automated systems for tracking HSJ processes including staff reassignments, budget, training, and security clearances.
  • Conduct research of various alternatives and analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of each alternative.
  • Develop recommendations and briefs those recommendations to management for approval.
  • Assist with customers inquiries regarding the teams' products and operations.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower band/grade, equivalent to the CS-I, PT-I, PE-I, AC-III level in the Federal service.

Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience in qualitative and quantitative analysis to analyze, evaluate, and provide recommendations orally and in writing to improve the efficiency of team internal administrative operations, organization, and/or management. Experience must also demonstrate familiarity with using the GAO web applications and systems to 1) analyze data and systems to develop tracking spreadsheets and management reports; and 2) prepare written documents to support the staffing process.
