Duties
***Please Note: This position is temporary in nature and is not to exceed 13 Months. This is strictly a temporary appointment where there is no permanent need or permanent funding available for the work involved and that the temporary appointment is limited in duration. The duration of this temporary appointment may be shorter or longer, depending on the duration of the work or project. The temporary position may also be terminated at any time due to lack of work and/or lack of funds without any advance notice. As a non-permanent employee, you may also be separated for failure to meet management’s expectations, with no advance notice.
The position requires the incumbent to possess a Commercial Driver’s License. Requires a Certificate as a Powered Industrial Truck operator for the Forklift in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.178(l)(6).
Tour of Duty: Monday - Friday (4:00 AM - 12:30 PM) Hours May Change Due to Operating Needs of Management
DUTIES:
Materials Handling
Transports bin and bulk supplies, materials, equipment and parts from an off-site warehouse or other supply facility. Receives and marks incoming stock. Stocks, rotates and marks items. Completes on-line forms with stock description, quantity, unit of issue and labeling requirements for incoming and outgoing supplies, materials and equipment.
Loads and unloads incoming and outgoing materials. Checks shipping documents to verify accuracy of incoming and outgoing items. Inspects equipment and materials to identify obvious damage. Inspects incoming shipments for quantity, quality and condition. Sorts material for storage. Reports discrepancies or damage to the leader or supervisor.
Selects storage location, stocks, moves and arranges warehoused items. Labels items to ensure proper identification. Stores materials to protect them from damage or deterioration and to enable ready location and handling of items. Rotates stock to avoid excessive shelf-life losses. Safeguards keys to storage areas.
Issue supplies to requesting office. Obtains signatures to acknowledge delivery. Assists in utilizing the Warehouse inventory management system (Maximo) to maintain and update records of material and purchase orders.
Uses dollies, electric jacks and hand tools. Stacks, moves and arranges items on pallets considering height, weight and special handling requirements.
Operation of Motor Vehicles Weighing Up to 33,000 Pounds
The primary purpose of the position is to load vehicles, transport supplies and equipment to multiple sites, such as Ft. Meade, MD, Alexandria, VA, Landover, MD, Upper Marlboro, MD and out-of-state such as Ohio, Pennsylvania and North Carolina. Drives the 2008 Kenworth, Model T300 on a regular and recurring basis10 to 18 hours per week. The vehicle has air brakes and the GVW is 54,600 lbs. requiring a CDL.
Other vehicles driven on a regular basis include: 2006 International DT466, GVW 33,000 lbs., 2012 International Durastar, GVW 23,000 lbs. and the 2013 Ford F-750, GVW 26,000 lbs. and large trailers. Operates forklifts, hand jacks, electric pallet jacks and pallet wrap machines. The primary purpose of the positions are to load vehicles, transport supplies and equipment to multiple sites, such as Ft. Meade, MD, Alexandria, VA, Landover, MD, Upper Marlboro, MD and out-of-state such as Ohio, Pennsylvania and North Carolina.

Operates vehicles through major congested areas. Determines the manner and sequence of loading cargo to achieve load balance and adequate protection for fragile items. Operates hydraulic lift gate to lift and lower cargo. Secures cargo to prevent shifting and to protect the load; marks dangerous or protruding cargo with flags, placards or reflection lights. Is responsible for safety of passengers, loading and unloading cargo. Arranges cargo according to size and structure and secures for safety. Maintains and prepares records of the day-to-day use of the vehicle.
