Duties
If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected office that is responsible for evaluations, inspections, and reviews of DOJ programs. As a Program Analyst, you will perform the following duties, typically in a team environment as a team leader or member, and occasionally as the sole analyst for specific products of limited scope. The Program Analyst will plan, execute, and participate in all phases of reviews of DOJ programs and functional areas to assess compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, or participate in sensitive and complex congressional or DOJ management inquiries referred for review.
Major duties for this position include but are not limited to the following:

Conducting research and collecting, assessing, organizing, and analyzing relevant information from diverse data sources;

Developing and reviewing written materials (such as reports, special analyses, proposals) and presentations to convey information and make recommendations and improvements concerning complex programs and functions while demonstrating understanding of the organization's programs and activities; and

GS-11: You must have successfully completed a Ph.D or J.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR have 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at or equivalent to a GS-9 Program Analyst Position; OR a combination of education and experience as listed below. Examples of specialized experience for the GS-343-11 level include but are not limited to: 1) Collecting and analyzing information from diverse data sources including interviews; 2) Evaluating internal and external policy; 3) Communicating complex and/or controversial issues both in writing and verbally; 4) Preparing segments of evaluation reports addressing an organization's productivity and efficiency, including conclusions and recommendations; 5) Possessing sound knowledge of how to use various databases and spreadsheets, and developing graphs, charts, and other data visualizations to organize, analyze, and present a variety of data.

Examples of specialized experience for the GS-343-12 level include, but are not limited to: 1) Presenting complex data in formal settings to higher level management; 2) Preparing segments of evaluation reports addressing an organization's productivity and efficiency, including conclusions and recommendations; 3) Planning and leading comprehensive evaluations or inspections; 4) Possessing sound knowledge of how to use various databases and spreadsheets, and developing graphs, charts, and other data visualizations to organize, analyze, and present a variety of data.
