Knowledge of marina-based functions. Knowledge of basic recreation principles. Knowledge of basic seamanship, boating terminology, watercraft operation and maintenance, water and boating safety, handling of boats (e.g., launching, mooring, etc.), boating equipment and facilities, and recreational boating activities. Knowledge of general office procedures. Knowledge of the State Clean Marina Initiative Program. Skill in providing customer service. Skill in the use of basic hand tools to perform minor maintenance and repair. Skill in the use of Microsoft Office Programs (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook). Ability to handle small powerboats in light to moderate conditions. Ability to maintain records, compile and organize data for reports. Ability to operate a motor vehicle. Ability to swim without assistance and/or support. Ability to perform point of sale (POS) tasks using site-specific software. Ability to assist in organizing, planning, and administering special events and entertainment activities. Ability to work independently and as a team member. Ability to safely use and operate equipment and tools for basic facility maintenance/repair. Ability to follow instructions. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Work is performed both inside and outside in areas that may be hot, damp, or poorly lit. This position is subject to prolonged standing, walking, bending, reaching, stooping; climbing of stairs, ladders, and scaffolds; and lifting/carrying objects weighing less than 45 pounds without assistance. Although hazards are minimized through safety procedures, incumbent will be subjected to many conditions inherent to an active sailing/boating environment.
Must be able to work varied work schedules to include nights, weekends, and holidays. Subject to recall.
Wears protective clothing and equipment as situations warrant.
Must successfully complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) or equivalent background check upon selection and periodically thereafter as required.
Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a current state driver's license within 30 days of hire.
Occasional travel up to 10% may be required.
This position is not telework eligible.
Must have or be able to obtain and maintain the following certification within 90 days of hire:
- Emergency First Responder (EFR) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
- First Aid Certification
- National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NAS BLA) Safe Boating Certification, or equivalent.
