Duties
Leads the development and execution of a comprehensive records and archival program across the SAA, ensuring proper handling of official records and defining agency policies and procedures. Establishes, implements, and assesses SAA record-keeping policies, processes, and practices (maintenance, storage, disposition) to ensure that such policies, processes, and practices align with SAA mission and business needs and objectives. Collaborates with U.S. Senate personnel, including the SAA Office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO), SAA General Counsel’s Office, U.S. Senate Archivist, and U.S. Senate Historical Office personnel to ensure the effective and efficient management of SAA records throughout the records lifecycle. Creates and distributes training materials, guidelines, and briefings on SAA records management procedures and practices. Serves as the records and archival advisor to the Sergeant at Arms. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required Work Experience
- At least five (5) years of combined experience in managing comprehensive records programs in all formats.
Required Special Skills/ Knowledge
- Ability to set the vision and direction of a records management and archival program.
- Ability to plan, develop, and supervise archival and records management projects and activities.
- Knowledge of archival and records management principles and practices.
- Knowledge of current approaches to surveying, appraising, and preserving records in all formats.
- Ability to positively interact with staff at all levels of the agency with tact and diplomacy; provide attention to detail and protocol; maintain confidentiality and awareness of security sensitive requirements.
- Knowledge of systems and how they are being used in offices, in order to provide preservation guidance for systems content.
- Ability to monitor the constantly evolving systems and technological environment to develop and update preservation guidance.
- Knowledge of metadata best practices, as related to preservation and digital stewardship.
- Ability to inspire, train, and provide guidance to staff on preserving records.
- Ability to prioritize projects and resources.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Certified Records Manager (CRM) of the Institute of Certified Records Managers preferred; other acceptable references
include, but are not limited to, Certified Records Analyst (CRA), and Certified Archivist (CA) from the Academy of Certified Archivists.

Working Conditions
- Appointment for two-years with possibility of extension based on need and performance.
- Work is essentially sedentary but may require travel to SAA offices or the National Archives.
- Standing, bending, and carrying items up to 25 pounds, as well as regular use of typical office equipment, software programs, and methods of communication such as a computer, email, telephone, and photocopier.
- Regular, predictable, and punctual attendance is required for performance of duties.
Education
Master’s degree in history, library, or information science.
