Duties
This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Office of the Secretary of the Interior (OS); Office of the Deputy Secretary for Policy, Management, and Budget (PMB); Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy and Environmental Management (PEM); Office of Subsistence Management (OSM); in Anchorage, Alaska.
At the full performance level GS-13 the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Provides technical support to the Federal Subsistence Board (FSB) and oversight in developing regulations which provide structure for the Federal Subsistence Management Program (FSMP); describes the authorities, responsibilities, and duties of the Board, Interagency Staff Committee, and Regional Advisory Councils; and provides regulatory support in the delineation of operating procedures for those bodies.
- Identifies regulatory problems and recommends solutions to the Interagency Staff Committee and the FSB.
- Evaluates or develops strategies for resolving Federal subsistence regulatory issues. Incorporates relevant administrative, judicial, legislative, and political considerations into rulemaking and policy evaluations.
- Negotiates with other DOI programs and Federal agency representatives to develop workable strategies, which are consistent with OSM's mission and promotes the integrity of the interagency approach to Federal subsistence management.
- Participates in and provides leadership for intra and interagency development and review of regulatory standards and procedures for the FSMP. Drafts and reviews regulatory packages and policies at the request of the Deputy Assistant Regional Director (DARD) that clarify and implement the FSMP.
- Serves as a first-line supervisor over three administrative employees, planning work to be accomplished by subordinates, setting and adjusting short-term priorities, and preparing schedules for completion of work.
- Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees.
The Office of the Secretary of the Interior (OS) has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.
Salary Information:
GS-13: $116,811 - $151,858 per annum
First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level.
Relocation or Recruitment Incentive may be authorized.
