Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-11. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
- Provide administrative support functions for tracking and monitoring policy and operational issues within an assigned portfolio to ensure policy consistency and support for the Administration and the Department's priorities and programs.
- Review and analyze materials for the office for policy consistency and identify policy concerns, bringing these to the attention of others in the Office of the Executive Secretary.
- Assist senior staff with tracking and monitoring policy and operational issues within an assigned portfolio to ensure policy consistency and support for the Administration and the Department's priorities and programs.
- Analyze policy and operational recommendations, providing recommendations to senior specialists and analysts.
- Assist senior staff with developing briefing materials for the Secretary, Deputy Secretary and other key officials concerning relevant policy issues and major indicators of interest to the Department.

Key Requirements:

- Must successfully complete a background investigation.

- Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
- Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.

Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-09, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
-Experience reviewing and analyzing policy issues and elevating concerns; AND
-Assisting in preparing a variety of briefing and other materials; AND
-Maintaining databases and spreadsheets for workflow tracking.
OR EDUCATION: You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: Master's or equivalent graduate degree
or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related
OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours (27 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-07, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
-Experience reviewing and analyzing policy materials to assist senior analysts; AND
-Assist in preparing briefing and other materials; AND
-Maintaining databases and spreadsheets under direction.
OR EDUCATION: You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: 1 full year of graduate level education
or superior academic achievement based on a bachelors degree that is demonstrated through: class standing (upper 1/3 of class) OR grade point average (3.0/4.0 overall or 3.5/4.0 in major) OR Election to membership in a qualifying national scholastic honor society.
OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Education
The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
