Summary

Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to provide expert-level technical guidance and management in the implementation of controls and safeguards. These prevent unauthorized access to classified, controlled unclassified, and other types of information that require distinct controls and/or safeguards. It manages the identification and evaluation of threats and vulnerabilities to the security of the system, program, or unit. It also provides management with the options and requirements for mitigating the risks. This position develops and/or evaluates vulnerability and risk assessments related to the system, program or unit.
Duties for this position typically include :
1. Serves as the technical authority in conducting the Information Security Program and information handled at all organization operating locations from espionage, terrorism, and threats of unauthorized disclosure and/or compromise of information or material considered vital to the organization's interests, national defense or nation security.
2. Responsible for information protection risk assessments and risk management/mitigation strategies/recommendations based on intelligence-derived threat issues that require deviations from or synthesis of policies that can have national implications.
3. Serves as the security program manager and as a recognized technical authority on Information Protection issues.
4. Plans, organizes, and directs the program protection planning activities of the organization, its facilities and weapon systems at contractor and other government locations ensuring that all elements of protection complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs throughout the program.

- The employee is required to obtain and maintain security clearance commensurate with position sensitivity code.
- Locations are not negotiable. The actual duty locations available may be located on the Air Force Civilian Service website.
- This position may require drug testing and the candidate may be subject to passing a drug test upon selection.
- This is a non-supervisory position. However, the incumbent does lead multiple security contractors in executing mission requirements.

- Full/part-time employees occupying direct childcare positions are eligible for discounts IAW DAF AFSVC/CC Memo, 30 Sep 22; first child 100% / each additional child 25%. Other assigned CYP and FCC personnel are eligible for 25% discount.
- This is a Centrally Managed position under the Security Career Field.
- The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
- Work may occasionally require the employee to work outside the normal business hours.
- This position is designated national security position.
- DoD Security Fundamentals Professional Certification and Security Program Integration Professional Certification conferrals are required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position.
- The listed certification requirements may not be deleted or modified without the written approval of the AF Security Functional Authority (SAF/AA) or their delegated security career field representative.
