Applicant must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. You must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:
- Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
- Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
- Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
- Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
**AND**
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the
GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- Experience applying expert knowledge of and skill in methods for evaluating, implementing, and disseminating Information Assurance (IA) security tools and procedures; certification and accreditation requirements; network operations and protocols; and computer forensics principles.
- Experience applying technical knowledge of the characteristics of the IT hardware and software in assigned systems; knowledge of comparable systems in use in other agencies and the private sector or accomplishing similar applications; knowledge of pertinent equipment advances in order to plan and carry out evaluations of alternate equipment configurations for proposed systems; and knowledge of agency IA standards and policies familiarity with the procurement sufficient to advise leaders of IT projects on these matters as they relate to IT systems.
- Experience applying skill at modification and adaptation of existing security approaches to provide for specialized scientific requirements; knowledge of DON and DoD Information Assurance policies to evaluate alternatives security packages and advise on their acquisition and use; knowledge of DON and DoD Information Assurance policies and standards; and knowledge of IT equipment evaluation techniques to perform systems analysis and performance analysis assignments.
- Experience applying knowledge of interrelationships of DoD telecommunication networks and security procedures to maintain them, and knowledge of the DoD life cycle management procedures for the acquisition of the security portion of IT hardware and software.
