You qualify for the GS-09 grade level if you possess one of the following:
Experience: One (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-07 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as:
- Collaborates with ICE employees to promote the OSH program and communicates policy and standards, under direction of Unit leadership.
- Conducts incident investigations when personnel are injured, or property is damaged in accordance with the requirements established in 29 CFR 1960 and ICE Safety Policy.
- Accomplishes OSH objectives and priorities established by statutes, executive orders, the Department, or executive leadership by utilizing the ICE management information systems.
- Assists OSH unit in planning and organizing the implementation of recommendations where proposals require changes of established procedures that involve agency resources or conflict with other ongoing activities. OR
Education: master's or equivalent graduate degree
or
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.B. or J.D., if related
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of successfully completed education and experience. This will be calculated using your resume and unofficial transcripts or a list of courses/course hours submitted with your application.

You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-09 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as:
- Serves as an advisor on several OSH programmatic areas and/or critical program segments for which both the scope and effect of the work have ICE-wide impact.
- Manages a comprehensive and diverse enterprise-wide safety program including elements such as Collateral Duty Safety Officers (CDSOs), providing Employee Occupational Safety and Health guidance, management of a Safety Management Information System (SMIS) database, and following Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) record keeping regulations.
- Serves as subject matter expert (SME) in the field of occupational safety and health management with responsibilities for oversight of contract service providers.
- Completes OSH assignments, projects, problems, actionable events, milestones, and/or program issues under review, within the deadlines and timeframes for completion.
Education:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.M., if related
