This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base Facilities and the Major Range and Test Facilities Base to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties
- Responsible for the protection of government personnel, property, and technologies against such hazards as sabotage, espionage, theft, accidental or willful damage and destruction.
- Respond to emergency situations, skillfully applying security procedures, jurisdiction, search and seizure, weapons, bombs, incendiary devices, and methods for the preservation of evidence.
- Remain current and cognizant of Federal and State Laws, rules, regulations and techniques common to all security functions and necessary to protection of property, personnel and technologies.
- Operate state of the art traffic control devices to regulate the flow of traffic entering and leaving the installation.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent to undergo and pass a medical examination.
- This position requires the incumbent to undergo and pass an agility test annually.
- This position is covered by the civilian drug abuse-testing program. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019, Condition of Employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program.
- This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position. Criminal history background check required.
- This position requires that the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance.
- This position may require working other than normal duty hours and shiftwork including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Employee is required to wear a uniform and protective clothing.
- Qualifies and trains with special weapons, (must qualify with 9mm Semi-Automatic Pistol).
- This position is designated as KEY. The position is required to perform duties which are vital to the continuity of crucial operations; and required to perform the duties of the position regardless of emergency situations or conditions.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a current State Driver’s License.
Qualifications
About the Position: The Joint Munitions Command provides the Joint Force with ready, reliable, lethal munitions at the speed of war. JMC's mission is to support the production, storage, distribution, and demilitarization of munitions. This position serves as Security Guard, located at the Camp Stanley Storage Activity, which is a subordinate installation of JMC. This position is responsible for the protection of government personnel, property, and technologies against such hazards as: sabotage, espionage, theft, accidental or willful damage and destruction.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes monitoring entry control points to secured facilities; responding to emergency calls to conduct first response and/or evidence collection; apprehending unauthorized personnel for the transfer to the appropriate agencies; interpreting federal and state laws regarding the protection of property.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Physical Demands
The work requires employees to remain physically fit in addition to weapons qualification and drug testing. Employees are required to perform duties that are physically taxing such as long periods of standing, walking, driving, bending, stooping, reaching, crawling and similar activities.
Work Environment
The work is performed in various settings where the incumbent is exposed to moderate discomforts and unpleasantness such as high levels of noise in the industrial settings, high temperatures, confined spaces or adverse weather conditions. The work involves moderate risk requiring exercise of safety precautions when working around hazardous materials that pose a moderate risk of exposure. The work also involves moderate risk and discomfort when working outdoors without shelter or operating vehicles.
