Duties
Oversees daily operations and service delivery across SPS teams including photography, video, post-production, and customer service. Supervises assigned staff; responsible for annual performance evaluations, scheduling, and leave approval in accordance with SAA policy. Coordinates staffing, resource allocation, and priorities to ensure timely, high-quality services for Senate clients. Acts as primary liaison for customer service and internal process coordination across SPS sections. Collaborates and ensure operational readiness of essential software, hardware, and data workflows. Other duties, as assigned.

- Serves as the Photographic Services Manager in his/her absence.
Required Work Experience
- Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in photography, video, and/or visual communications, with at least two (2) years of work in a lead or supervisor capacity managing an operation in a high volume, customer-facing environment.
Required Special Skills/ Knowledge
- Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, the structure, services, and protocols of the U.S. Senate and the SAA.
- Knowledge of digital photography and video production workflows, including editorial, post-production, and asset delivery standards.
- Ability to supervise and evaluate the work of a multidisciplinary team in a deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to use independent judgement to resolve scheduling and service conflicts across visual services.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective staff supervision, cross-functional collaboration within SAA, and direct engagement with Senate offices, committees, and executive-level stakeholders.
- Skilled in high-level representation and advocacy, frequently serving as the face of SPS in high-profile, high-pressure environments.
- Demonstrated discretion, professionalism, and sound judgment in navigating sensitive and complex situations.

- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively and diplomatically with individuals at all levels, and to foster strong working relationships across diverse teams, stakeholders, and Senate Offices.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor, supervise, and develop a multidisciplinary team of creative professionals, including performance management, career development, and completion of administrative requirements.
- Experience leading teams through organizational and technological transitions, including integrating new production, scheduling, or workflow tools.
- Comfort and competence working in live, high-profile settings where adaptability, professionalism, sound judgment, and attention to detail are paramount.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating operational reliability combined with creative vision, technical skill, and editorial judgment across photography and short-form video platforms.
- Knowledge of archival best practices and metadata workflows for photo and video content in government or public institutions.
Working Conditions
- Since this position requires onsite presence in support of the U.S. when in session, this position requires the employee to be available and prepared to work during government shutdowns, in inclement weather, on holidays, and during late night, overnight, and weekend sessions. In the context of government furloughs, this position is considered excepted.
- This position directly supports essential services of the U.S. Senate. As such, this position requires the employee be available and prepared to work during government shutdowns, in inclement weather, on holidays, weekends, and during late nights to ensure essential services to the Senate continue without interruption. In the context of government furloughs, this position is considered excepted.
- The U.S. Senate network cannot be taken offline for maintenance during the workday, or while the Senate is in session. As such, maintenance windows may only occur at night, on weekends, and occasionally on holidays.
- Employees who perform systems upgrades, maintenance, wiring, backups, support our alternate data centers, will have schedules that include working nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Moderate (carrying items less than 50 pounds).
- Work requires the employee to be outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
- Work requires frequent physical effort walking, bending, crawling, standing for long durations.
- Working on ladders, scaffolding, or stages.
- Working in confined spaces (bending and crawling).
- Some traveling may be required.
Education
High School Diploma/ GED.
