Duties
Serves as Branch Chief responsible for directing and managing staff to ensure assigned cases for supervision and investigation are entered in SMART, and other data base systems that capture offender information. Plans activities of staff to ensure workflow is conducive to the efficiency of branch operations. Develops branch directives and procedures.
Reviews and audits branch operations for compliance with policies and procedures. Prepares and reviews statistical reports. Ensures branch compliance with established law relative to the registration and/or the re-registration of the sex offender population.
Develops and maintains collaborative partnerships with the stakeholders. Evaluate case management services to assess effectiveness for offenders.
Plans, schedules, and assigns work to subordinates. Establishes guidelines and performance expectations for staff members; provides feedback and periodically evaluates employee performance.
Provides advice, counsel, and/or instruction to staff members.

Qualifications
Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks must meet the time-in-grade requirement. Applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-13 or higher grade in Federal Service.
This position has a positive education and/or experience requirement. You may qualify at the GS-14 level if you fulfill one of the following basic qualification requirements:
A. Successful completion of a full four-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in the behavioral or social sciences, or in a related discipline that included at least 24 semester/36 quarter hours in the behavioral or social sciences;
OR
B. Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field;
OR
C. Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
In addition to meeting the basic entry qualification requirement, applicants must have had one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13.
Specialized experience is the experience that is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the position's duties successfully. Specialized experience includes supervising and managing units in the delivery of parole and probation services to offenders for community supervision or investigation; directing and managing staff to ensure that all assigned cases for supervision and investigation are entered in the information system timely and accurately; ensuring programs are in place to effectively monitor offenders compliance with the conditions of parole, probation, or supervised release.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
