The Eastern Colorado Veterans Health Care System, Imaging Service is currently recruiting for one (1) Supervisory Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist at the Rocky Mountain VA Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado.

Duties

The incumbent Supervisory DRT is a workingsupervisor responsible for the coordination and performance of the General Radiography section while working as a DRT. The incumbent will be the first line supervisor for staff technologists for the section and shall work closely with the technologists, nurses , clinicians and clerical staff to assure optimum quality control , efficient coordination of activities , high quality diagnostic/therapeutic exam results, and patient satisfaction. The supervisory DRT is responsible for the efficiency of the section; inclusive of maximizing the level of throughput as to decrease the Outpatient and Inpatient wait times and to ultimately meet and maintain the national standard for turnĀ­ around time. Incumbent is ultimately responsible for ensuring orders management mandates are met within the section and assist other sections in the same.

The incumbent functions as a supervisor for a group of DRTs, who are assigned across multiple shifts, ensuring coverage for a 24/7 service at the full performance level and below, which may include support staff. The incumbent advises employees of the performance requirements of their positions, informs them of their progress in meeting requirements, and prepares formal evaluations of employee performance. Address professional and personal concerns at real time to the extent possible. The incumbent conducts corrective interviews with employees, referring disciplinary problems to higher levels of management; resolves informal complaints of employees; and deals with union representatives as appropriate. The incumbent will plan and direct programs at the medical center and/or satellite outpatient clinics and have full supervisory responsibility. Responsible for acquiring knowledge, implementing, and training staff on new processes, procedures, exam protocols, technological advances, and any other proficiency related to general radiography. Train, facilitate, or coordinate proper orientation of new staff, residents, and affiliated x-ray students

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

Citizenship. Citizen of the United States. (Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified candidates in accordance with chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3g, this part.)

Certification. All applicants must be certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) (R).

Education. Completion of a full-time training course of at least 24 months duration (or the equivalent) in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or an associate's degree, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or from schools accredited by the ARRT and certification by the ARRT in radiology.

English Language Proficiency. DRTs must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), and 7407(d).

Grade Determination

GS-9 Supervisory DRT
Experience. At least 1 year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level directly related to the position being filled that demonstrates the clinical competencies described at that level.

Supervisory DRTs plan and direct programs at medical centers and/or satellite outpatient clinics and have full supervisory responsibility. Assignments at this level include but are not limited to: assigning and evaluating the work of subordinate staff; resolving complex problems to ensure patient services are met; evaluating new products, equipment, and systems to make recommendations for improved operations; identifying educational or training needs; recommending final decisions on selections; evaluating performance and recommending disciplinary action when necessary. The incumbent has professional responsibility for planning and directing the DRTs activities and is responsible for extracting and analyzing data to provide reports in support of performance measures to senior management.

The candidate must demonstrate the following technical KSAs and demonstrate the potential to acquire the assignment specific KSAs designated by an asterisk (*):


a. *Ability to organize work, set priorities, delegate tasks and responsibilities.

b. Skill in interpersonal relationships in dealing with employees, team leaders, and managers.

c. *Skill in assessing qualifications and abilities of current and prospective employees.

d. *Ability to consult with radiologist to develop standard and non-standard treatment/exam protocols.

e. Ability to independently perform general and specialized diagnostic radiologic procedures in advanced levels of complex treatment situations.

Full Performance Level: the full performance level of this position is a GS-9. The grade to be hired is a GS-09

Physical Requirements: Heavy lifting (45 lbs and over), heavy carrying (45 lbs and over), reaching above shoulder, use of fingers, both hands required, walking (up to 8 hours), standing (up to 8 hours), ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously, ability to distinguish basic colors and shades of colors, hearing (aid permitted), vision (in at least one eye, glasses are permitted).

Preferred Experience: Recent Supervisory or leadership experience is highly desirable.
