Summary

This position is located in the Employment Litigation Section (ELS). As the Supervisory Equal Opportunity Specialist, you will serve as a member of the management team and as the primary non-attorney assistant to the Chief and Deputy Chiefs on a variety of confidential, complex, and time-sensitive administrative and programmatic matters, as well as supervising, coordinating, and evaluating the work of Equal Opportunity Specialists and related program support positions specific to the Section.

The incumbent will serve as a Supervisory Equal Opportunity Specialist. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervise a group of employees performing work at the GS-13 full performance level.
  • Perform the administrative and human resource management functions relative to the staff supervised.
  • Ensure that staff and financial resources are deployed in the most effective and cost-efficient manner.
  • Prepare reports of statistics and other data regarding enforcement matters to respond to requests from the Office of the Assistant Attorney General (OAAG), management and others, including preparing weekly reports for the OAAG summarizing enforcement matters and providing up-to-date fiscal and calendar year statistics of enforcement. activities.
  • Respond in writing and orally to requests for information about the Division's and the Department's policies and procedures and about the status of investigations and litigation.
  • With respect to Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA) enforcement matters, maintain a database of all USERRA referrals; track fiscal year statistics, prepare weekly report for Deputy Chiefs of all pending matters and deadlines, and prepare quarterly and annual reports for Congress regarding the processing of USERRA referrals.
  • Develop and maintain expert consultant and other enforcement-related contracts.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience Requirements

To qualify for the position of Supervisory Equal Opportunity Specialist, at (GS-0360-14), you must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13. Your resume must clearly demonstrate that you possess all of the specialized experience listed below, showing you have the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Specialized experience includes:

  • Communicate clearly in writing, considering the intended audience and using the appropriate level of detail; types of writing may include emails, memos, recommendations, and other written work.
  • Perform administrative and human resource management such as, assisting with managing workflow and deadlines, tracking completion of projects, evaluating work performance, and providing feedback to others on their performance.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees applying for a higher grade must meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. You MUST provide an SF-50, which shows position, type of service appointment, tenure group, grade, duty location, and salary. If your most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year (52 weeks) time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. The Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice, created by the enactment of the Civil Rights Act of 1957, works to uphold the civil and constitutional rights of all Americans, particularly some of the most vulnerable members of our society.
