Summary

You will serve as a Supervisory General Attorney for the US Small Business Administration, COVID EIDL Loan Servicing Center - CESC in Fort Worth, Texas. This position serves as the Center Counsel and provides legal guidance regarding the handling of complex and/or sensitive loan servicing assignments. The selectee will be responsible for the direction and oversight of servicing and liquidation activities.

Duties

THIS POSITION IS NOT REMOTE AND IS LOCATED AT THE FORT WORTH OFFICE AND IS ONLY ELIGIBLE FOR AD HOC TELEWORK.

As a Supervisory General Attorney at the GS-0905-14, some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • Direct and oversee the legal aspects of modification and/or liquidation of COVID-19 EIDL loans.
  • Participate in the development of new techniques and concepts in the collection and liquidation of COVID-19 EIDL loans.
  • Develop and or implement policies and procedures that improve the operation of the center.
  • Assign work designate priorities, and ensure through subordinates that deadlines are met.
  • Provide necessary guidance, oversight, and training overall activities of the office and recommend improvements.
  • Establish directions for the department and motivate employees.
  • Identify organizational strengths and weaknesses and recommend changes that maximize production.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
  • This is a Permanent position in the Excepted Service with a fulltime work schedule.
  • Mandatory Overtime: This position may be called upon to assist with disaster recovery, which may require extensive overtime and travel.

Experience:

To receive credit, you must indicate the month and year as well as the average hours worked per week for each employer. GS-14: Applicant must have at least two (2) years of professional legal experience after admission to the bar, one (1) year of which was at a level of difficulty comparable to the next lower grade or equivalent to the GS13 in the Federal service; OR One (1) year of professional legal experience after receiving a Scientiae Juris Doctor degree (Doctor of Juridical Science degree). In addition, this Specialized Experience must demonstrate ALL the following:
  • Leading or supervising a diverse staff of employees to achieve organizational goals and objectives; AND
  • Interacting with internal and external customers such as senior managers within and outside an agency/organization; staff in other units; employees of state and local governments; members of the business community; and the general public; AND
  • Performing or overseeing quality assurance activities for an organization ensuring compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and guidelines; AND
  • Providing legal guidance and/or interpretation of local, state, and federal laws relating to an organization's practices and/or procedures in its daily operations; AND
  • Rendering legal opinions on points of law.
