Summary

This position is in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A). The position reports to the Director of the Transborder Security Center under the Deputy Under Secretary for Analysis.

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Deputy Director for the Transborder Security Center.

Non-BU: This is a non-bargaining unit position.

Duties

As a Supervisory Intelligence Operations Specialist, GS-0132-15, your typical work assignments may include:

  • Oversees/guides Transborder Security Center's analysis and production, ensuring high-quality and timely products and briefings on multiple, complex and/or specialized threat topics are aligned to priority intelligence requirements.
  • As required leverages broader intelligence community expertise to develop standard operating procedures and guidance to ensure Transborder Security Center analysts have the appropriate resources and training to effectively conceptualize, research, and write analyses of varying complexity on threats/intelligence related to Transborder Security Center portfolios.
  • Exercises a full range of supervisory and personnel management authorities and responsibilities in directing work of subordinate staff.
  • Responsible for development of first-line supervisors, especially with regard to analytic production and task and personnel management.

  • Work may require relocation to an alternate work site for various lengths of time to meet operational requirements.
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • May be required to regularly support 24/7 watch operations requiring irregular work hours from a variety of locations throughout the National Capital Region.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience
You qualify for the GS-15 grade level if you possess the specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in Federal service or equivalent private/public sector experience. For this position, specialized experience is defined as:
  • Extensive experience producing, and guiding subordinate's production of, finished analytic products of various complexity and classification levels for a variety of customer sets.
  • Experience in briefing and conducting outreach to customers and senior government officials is also required.
