Summary

Joining the Secret Service, Office of Human Resources, Workforce Planning Division, will allow you to serve as a principal advisor on workforce planning within the Secret Service.

Duties

The selectee will serve as a Supervisory Statistician in the Office of Human Resources, Workforce Planning Division. Typical work assignments include:

  • Planning, organizing, directing, and executing complex quantitative studies and statistical analysis programs to support workforce planning for the Secret Service.
  • Preparing and reviewing comprehensive recommendations on the development and/or modification of Secret Service policies and procedures that enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness of the workforce.
  • Planning, developing, and implementing operational and strategic human capital plans.
  • Planning, controlling, directing, and coordinating the work of subordinate supervisors and professional, administrative, and administrative support personnel.

Qualifications

To be considered qualified for this position you must meet the following qualification requirements for the respective grade level in which you are applying.

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Basic Requirements AND Minimum Qualification requirements as listed below:

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
A. Completion of a degree that included 15 semester hours in statistics (or in mathematics and statistics, provided at least 6 semester hours were in statistics), and 9 additional semester hours in one or more of the following: physical or biological sciences, medicine, education, or engineering; or in the social sciences including demography, history, economics, social welfare, geography, international relations, social or cultural anthropology, health sociology, political science, public administration, psychology, etc.
OR
B. A combination of education and experience that includes courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. The experience should have included a full range of professional statistical work such as (a) sampling, (b) collecting, computing, and analyzing statistical data, and (c) applying statistical techniques such as measurement of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, sampling error, simple and multiple correlation, analysis of variance, and tests of significance.

IN ADDITION TO MEETING THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS ABOVE, YOU MUST ALSO MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

You qualify for the GS-15 level (starting salary $163,964.00) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level performing duties such as:

  • Applying statistical human capital concepts for policy and strategy development.
  • Conducting quantitative and qualitative statical analysis for the collection, simulation, and reporting of workforce planning data.
  • Providing technical advice on statistical analysis and human capital quality improvement methods.
  • Overseeing subordinate execution of short- and long-range human capital program planning and projections.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
