Summary

This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, within the Office of Supply Management. As a Supply Management Officer - Chief (Supply Chain Management), you will provide broad supply chain and project management expertise, managing all aspects of integrated supply chain activities that include manufacturing related contract administration (purchasing), production planning and scheduling, general warehouse, shipping and receiving, and inventory management.

Duties

As a Supply Management Officer - Chief (Supply Chain Management), you will:

  • Serve as an expert in supply chain management and consults with office chiefs, executives, suppliers, and customers who are involved with and affected by long-range objectives in the production of U.S. Currency.
  • Develop and lead the start-up and institutionalization of an organization-wide integrated order management system including demand management, materials management, production scheduling, and inventory management. This includes developing and executing multiple supply chain management processes, policies and procedures, techniques, and services that support the overall missions of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP).
  • Integrate and coordinate all advanced supply chain planning and execution, ensuring the organization efficiently and effectively uses designated Bureau IT systems (e.g. Oracle's Advanced Supply Chain Planning) and other additional applications for scheduling and production in accordance with industry best practices for manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain management.
  • Conduct complex studies of existing facilities, equipment, and inventory requirements to determine the effectiveness of the supply chain and provide Bureau-wide recommendations to lead change in support of operational efficiencies, improve supply and inventory management functions, reduce costs, and streamline processes to support lean manufacturing and other major initiatives.

  • Weekend work and overtime, if applicable, will be scheduled when needed based on production requirements as determined by Management.

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

For the GS-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service.

Specialized experience for this position includes:
Providing strategic leadership of an organization-wide supply chain in accordance with regulations and policy.


Examples of such experience could include:
  • Conducting studies to improve supply and inventory management functions to reduce costs and streamline processes; OR
  • Advising senior level management, customers, or coworkers on manufacturing requirements; OR
  • Leading or managing a team of supply chain or logistics employees and monitoring their progress towards achieving project goals and objectives; OR
  • Experience in making long and short-range plans to ensure that stated goals, objectives, and deadlines are met; OR
  • Analyzing and determining raw materials needed are in compliance with policies and procedures.

  • The facility typically shuts down annually between Christmas and New Year's Day. As such, all BEP employees must take leave for workdays during the shutdown period.
  • This position requires that the successful candidate undergo personnel vetting, which includes a background investigation and enrollment upon onboarding into "Continuous Vetting." Enrollment in Continuous Vetting will result in automated record checks being conducted throughout one's employment with Treasury.   • SUITABILITY, CLEARANCE & REQUIREMENTS: A background investigation will be required for all new hires.
