We are seeking a System Engineer II to join our Operations
team in the Office of Legislative Computer Systems. This is a position where
you can use your expertise to manage systems critical to legislative
operations. Your primary duty will be to
operate, maintain, and support the Electronic Voting System and its components
including:
- Providing daily operational support for the Electronic Voting System by performing daily system checks, monitoring availability of all hardware, software, and key processes, and reviewing system logs and verifying completion of all scheduled jobs and backups;
- Assisting with design, development and test of any new hardware and software for the electronic voting system;
- Providing hardware, operating system and network support for critical systems for the Office of the Clerk;
- Assisting with the installation, configuration and maintenance of servers and network devices, including but not limited to Linux servers, Cisco switches and custom networked devices. Monitoring systems for possible failures, and assisting in recommending possible solutions/upgrades;
- Producing documentation for critical systems to ensure continuity of support;
- Understanding and supporting other services of the Legislative Computer Systems (LCS) and coordinating efforts with vendors, other departments, and users in the Clerk’s office;
- Accepting performance-based criticism and direction, meet attendance requirements as established by the office and be willing to work a flexible schedule including long hours, nights and weekends, when necessary, willingness to accept overtime on short notice;
- Maintaining a good working relationship with other LCS staff, work cooperatively and courteously with others, work well under pressure and handle stress appropriately; and
- Performing other official duties as assigned.
