Summary

This position is located in the Division of Insurance and Research, Data Applications and Large Data Management Sections and provides support in the areas of data analysis to produce a dataset or report for Researchers and end use consumption.

Duties

  • Plans, designs and carries out comprehensive feasibility and cost benefit analyses of automated systems.
  • Conducts studies which address innovative alternatives and options in developing new integrated financial and economic database delivery.
  • Evaluates the trial dataset and assists in the determination of dataset relevance for the Division of Insurance and Research (DIR). Determines the suitability of the candidate dataset and provides an early go/no-go decision; identifies any data problems early in the acquisition process and makes recommendations.
  • Performs independent studies identifying requirements and specialized needs of end users and develops new applications, utilities, and systems to meet overall Division requirements.
  • Serves as a technical resource and liaison for DIR staff on various financial information and data delivery systems used by the Division in research projects.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. GS-9
To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 07 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience collecting, researching and data profiling or compiling and charting dashboard visualizations of statistical data sets or creating & maintaining databases and analyzing the information for incorporation into final report.

OR

EDUCATION: I have completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D., if related.

OR

COMBINATION of graduate level education as described above, and the specialized experience as described below, that together meet the qualification requirements for this position.

CG-11
To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 09 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience in at least 3 of the following areas: (1) researching, profiling and analyzing data (2) compiling and charting dashboard visualizations of statistical data sets (3) gathering, aggregating and analyzing information for incorporation into final reports (4) creating or maintaining large databases/data pipelines.

OR

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.

OR

COMBINATION of education as described above and specialized experience as described below, that together meet the qualification requirements for this position.

CG-12
To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 11 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience in at least 3 of the following areas: (1) Researching, profiling and analyzing data (2) Compiling and charting dashboard visualizations of statistical data sets (3) Writing custom queries or programs and analyzing information for incorporation into final reports (4) Creating or maintaining large databases or data pipelines.
