To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the Basic Experience and Specialized Experience as described below.
Basic Requirement
Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -education or a subject area related to the position to be filled.
OR
Experience that demonstrated a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:
- Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s).
- Supervising or administering a training program.
- Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results.
- Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis.
Specialized Experience
Applicants must have at least one year of full-time specialized work experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the next lower level (equivalent to the GS-07) in the federal government.
Specialized experience is defined as: a) assisting in the development of training content and material; b) teaching classes that are related to personal finance topics, 401(k) style retirement plans or financial certifications; c) presenting orally to internal and external stakeholders; and d) facilitating administrative tasks associated with training, such as registration, surveys, evaluations and dissemination of training materials.
OR
Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.
OR
A combination of both education and experience.

Specialized experience must meet 52 weeks equivalent to the next lower grade level. A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
