Duties

  • Makes repairs to Marine Corps Community Services vending machines. Duties include installing, troubleshooting, cleaning, repairing, and adjusting a variety of components, assemblies, and systems such as wiring, telemetry, credit card, bill and coin-handling, using a variety of hand tools such as wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, soldering iron, voltage meters, circuit testers, and electric drill. 
  • Receives, loads and unloads vending items for delivery to vending machine locations.  Drives vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of up to 26,000 pounds over public roads at highway speeds under all traffic conditions to transport merchandise. Removes aged food or other merchandise from machines and micro markets, replenishes merchandise and makes appropriate notations on required documents.  Monitors brands and sale prices to ensure adequate stocking levels and compliance with approved selling prices.  Cleans interior and exterior of machines to ensure compliance with sanitation regulations.  Collects money and turns in to the supervisor or designated cashier.  May be required to make limited emergency repairs to vehicle and change tires.  Complies with fire, safety and security rules, regulations or orders.
  • Stocks vending machines in accordance with prescribed procedures to ensure maximum sales potential.  Works according to instructions from supervisor on route or specific trip assignment.  Independently fills and cleans machines.  Maintains security of product and money at all times.  Reports malfunctions of the vending machines to the vending office. Completes documents associated with inventory control.  Work is checked and evaluated for timeliness, adequate stocking of merchandise and the safe and accurate recording and transport of funds.  Responsible for normal operator maintenance of vehicle. 
  • Leads other vending machine repairers by relaying instructions from supervisor.  Gets work started.  Sets work pace. Opens and closes activity. Demonstrates work methods, and provides work-related guidance.  Ensures worksite materials and tools are available to complete work.  Reports workplace injuries immediately to the immediate or higher level supervisor, and to the Human Resources office in the absence of the immediate supervisor. Checks with supervisor on problems.  Checks on work and meets productivity goals. 
  • Assists the Vending Manager in ensuring the maintenance of operating records concerning direct and indirect costs, sales, inventory, cost of goods and supplies in order to analyze the operations to determine efficiencies and economies that can be instituted. Ensures employees follow security, safety and housekeeping rules. Conducts on-the-job training and instructions. Performs supervisory duties in an emergency, or short-term and nonrecurring basis.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

Specialized work experience in vending and micro market services. Knowledge and operating experience with various automated vending machines and micro market kiosks to include bill validators, credit card readers, and telemetry devices. Basic knowledge of computer and vend management software. Must have a valid driver¿s license and be able to acquire a government driving and forklift license. Skill to repair and replace parts and to makes synchronizing adjustments and settings. Must possess leadership skill.

RESPONSIBILITY: 

The incumbent leads other employees in organizing and coordinating daily work assignments of the section. Sets the work pace, passes on to other workers with the instructions received from the Vending Manager. Reports to the supervisor on status and progress of work, and causes of work delays. Oversees operations of the Vending Section during the absence of the supervisor. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Position is divided equally between the office and outside work.  Must be physically capable of assisting in the movement of machines weighing in excess 300 pounds using available equipment i.e. jacks, forklifts or hand carts.  Lifts and carries objects up to 45 lbs independently and objects over 45 lbs with assistance.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Works both indoors and outdoors in variety of weather conditions. Exposed to dirt, dust and grease. Required to wear issued protective gear.
