Summary

This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of the General Counsel (OGC), Operations and Enforcement Law Division (OELD).

The primary purpose of this position is to provide legal support for DHS leadership, staff, and components on issues related to the Department's cybersecurity missions and provide legal advice regarding other operational and/or law enforcement matters.

Non-BU: This is a non-bargaining unit position.

  1. Skill interpreting and applying federal laws, regulations, and policies associated with cybersecurity and/or on other issues (e.g., national security, privacy, information sharing) relevant to the Department's cybersecurity missions.
  2. Ability to recognize relevant legal issues raised in the development of cybersecurity initiatives, to integrate applicable facts and legal requirements, and to provide clear, concise, and well-reasoned oral and written advice on those initiatives.
  3. Ability to understand complex technical issues and to communicate effectively about those issues-both orally and in writing-with a wide range of people, including other attorneys, senior government officials, program managers, and other Department personnel, with diverse backgrounds and expertise.
  4. Evidence of the outstanding professional judgment and maturity necessary to brief and advise Department officials on sensitive matters.
  5. Ability to work collaboratively and collegially with a team of attorneys and with other Department personnel.
