Summary

The Senate Sergeant at Arms is seeking a Police Coordination Manager. The complete vacancy announcement and application can be found on the United States Senate Career Page at https://sen.gov/J5NY. Duties

Provides leadership and guidance to professional staff in support of the Police Operations/Coordination and Senate Campus Access Program. Manages, coordinates, and supports security requests from Senate offices and committees. Responds to issues and concerns regarding security sensitive matters relating to the Congressional community from SAA management. Liaises with Capitol Police and Command Staff on behalf of Senate offices and the Sergeant at Arms Assists the Director in developing notices, articles, annual program plans and reports, departmental budget, and strategic plans. Other duties, as assigned.

Other Duties/ Responsibilities

  • Occasionally serves as an acting Director.
  • Provides budget recommendations to the Director.

Required Work Experience

  • 5-8 years of experience working with law enforcement which should include at least 2 years of supervisory/management  experience

Security Clearance

  • This position requires that the applicant obtain and maintain a Top-Secret U.S. Government security clearance.
  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens in order for the SAA to submit your application for a security clearance.

Required Special Skills/ Knowledge

  • Geographical knowledge of Congressional Campus and Buildings.
  • Proficient in verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to Communicate (verbally/writing) quickly, effectively, and efficiently.
  • Ability to exercise tact and discretion with others regarding sensitive and confidential issues.
  • Ability to analyze difficult and complex issues and make recommendations for action.
  • Ability to lead and manage staff responsible for Police Operations programs.

  • Knowledge of Congressional campus.
  • Self-motivated leader with effective problem-solving skills and a high attention to detail.
  • Solves problems in the moment, diplomatically handles challenging and sensitive situations.
  • Prioritizes requests appropriately and manages daily workflow effectively and accurately.

Working Conditions

  • Required to be available for sudden recall in response to emergency incidents affecting the Senate community, and to potentially deploy to alternate sites for up to thirty days on short notice.
  • Work is primarily performed in an office environment with some flexibility to work remotely.
  • Work is essentially sedentary with occasional walking, and safely carrying items under 25 pounds.
  • Work may require long period of standing.
  • Occasional travel may be required to participate in special events.
