Duties
This
position is located in the Office of Chief Administrative Officer (OCAO),
Office of Information
Services (OIS), Radio Services Division (RSD). Duties
and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Performing
strategic planning and tasks for communications technology initiatives
throughout USCP, as well as for radio interoperability with partner agencies.
Plans the configuration, deployment, ad recovery of communications systems
using geographical data and information gathered during site walk-throughs.
When required, must be able to work outside of normal duty hours to provide
communications support to personnel on travel. Designs,
develop, and test radio systems architecture, components, circuits, and
products including antenna design, frequency synthesizers, transmitters, and
receivers. Compiles and evaluates test data, prepares technical analyses, and
recommends methods and processes required to meet design objectives on new or
improved products and processes. Perform
maintenance on electronic equipment. Trains users on the proper operation of
radio equipment. Utilize various databases to track equipment repairs,
discrepancies, staff access, and the progress of ongoing projects and managing
talk groups. Perform site walk-throughs to gather communication systems
installation information in support of USCP missions.

Conditions of Employment
You must be a U.S. Citizen. Successful completion of a Background Investigation is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance. Must complete a one year probationary period. The position is designated as emergency and subject to recall. The incumbent may be required to report to their duty station or an alternate site in the event of severe weather.
Qualifications
In
order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements
described below. For
the CP-9 level you must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience
equivalent to at least the CP-8/GS-10 level which is in or directly
related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped
the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to
successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is
defined as experience which includes: 1) Knowledge of telecommunications
operating techniques, digital and analog communications requirements including
video, local area networking, and procedures used by organizations; 2)
Knowledge of the configuration and maintenance of computers and servers that
support radio systems; 3) Skill in diagnosing problems and determining
corrective action for complex electronic systems; and 4) Effective
communication skills in order to instruct and train users on radio usage. All
