Duties

Assists the Deputy Director, Review and Analysis by executing and monitoring the MCCS safety, loss prevention and risk management programs.

  • Implements and monitors MCCS activity safety program in accordance with the Base Safety Program.  Monitors activity compliance with OSHA standards and recommends action to correct unsafe or unhealthy working conditions. 
  • Conducts safety inspections and risk assessments in all activities.  Instructs/advises responsible parties to take corrective action whenever safety is compromised. 
  • Periodically, inspects all activity fire extinguishers and other safety equipment to ensure activity compliance with safety program.  Investigates any employee or customer accidents and recommends corrective action.
  • Provides safety and loss prevention training to new employees at orientation and at activities when required
  • Maintains surveillance throughout designated activities, observing customers and employees, in an effort to prevent and detect dishonest acts.  Reports all detected dishonest acts to the appropriate party for action. 
  • Installs CCTV cameras, cables and connectors in activities and operates various CCTV DVRs.  Checks recordings and resets as necessary.  Recommends site location.
  • Prepares reports pertaining to loss prevention and safety incidents; gathers facts and evidence.  May be required to appear and testify in court or at hearings concerning security cases.
  • Periodically conducts inventories and surveys within MCCS facilities.  Analysis inventory losses and conducts inquiries as required, in high shortage areas.  Reviews merchandise periodically to ensure proper pricing.  Ensures proper forms are utilized to document shrinkage and spoilage.
  • This is a “covered position” for the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act for Department of the Navy civilian personnel.  Since the incumbent comes in contact with such retail inventory as firearms and ammunition they must complete a DD Form 2760 certifying whether, or not they have ever obtained a “qualifying conviction” for a misdemeanor, or felony crime of domestic violence.  All covered employees have a continuing obligation to notify their supervisors through use of the DD Form 2760 if they obtain a qualifying conviction.
  • Maintains personal identification information IAW with prescribed regulations and ensures confidentiality and security of information.  Handles sensitive information that is proprietary, privileged, confidential, or otherwise legally exempt from disclosure.  Safeguards sensitive information and prevents unauthorized reading, printing, retaining, copying or dissemination of information, messages, or correspondence in accordance with rules and regulations such as those covered by the Privacy Act, 5 USC 552(a), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, Public Law 104-191, and DoD Directive 6025.18.  Notifies the higher level supervisor and senders immediately when personal identification information has been released and advises on how to properly recover, and/or protect information.
  • Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy.  Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner.  Acknowledges customers, smiles and makes eye contact.  Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems.  Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services.  Takes action to solve problems quickly.  Alerts the higher level supervisor or proper point of contact for help when problems arise
  • Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

EVALUATIONS:

Qualifications

A minimum of one to two years of experience that demonstrates skill in safety and loss prevention.    Knowledge of electronic security equipment preferred.   Have good communication and analytical skills in the application of physical security techniques and methods, and ability to determine necessary actions under various security situations.  Ability to lift and carry video equipment up to 30 lbs. independently and equipment over 45 lbs. with assistance.    Ability to obtain a valid driver’s license.

Ability to successfully complete and obtain/maintain a favorable background investigation at the ANACI level.
