Summary

This position is located in the Office of the Chief Information Security Officer (OCISO), Washington, DC of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and provides support in the areas of enterprise-wide information security and privacy programs that assure integrity, confidentiality, and availability of corporate information.

Duties

At the full performance level, major duties include:

  • Assist in the design development of new tools/technologies as related to cybersecurity.
  • Provide input to the Risk Management Framework process activities and related documentation (e.g., system life-cycle support plans, concept of operations, operational procedures, and maintenance training materials).
  • Ensure all systems security operations and maintenance activities are properly documented and updated as necessary.
  • Plan and recommend modifications or adjustments based on exercise results or system environment.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. CG13:

To qualify at the CG/GS-13 grade level, applicants must have completed at least one-year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the grade CG/GS-level 12 or above in the Federal service.  Specialized experience is defined as experience presenting computer-related evidence in support of secure system design and secure configuration baseline development

CG 14:

To qualify at the CG/GS-14 grade level, applicants must have completed at least one-year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the grade CG/GS-level 13 or above in the Federal service.  Specialized experience is defined as experience presenting computer-related evidence in support of secure system design, secure configuration baseline development, and Enterprise Security Architecture to help the organization operate more securely.

You must have Information Technology (IT)-related experience which demonstrates proficiency in each of the following competencies:

• Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.

• Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

• Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

There is no substitution of education for the experience for this position.

Selectee(s) for this position will be required to report to their duty station office two days per week.

  4. Knowledge of current industry methods for evaluating, implementing, and disseminating information technology (IT) security assessment, monitoring, detection, and remediation tools and procedures utilizing standards-based concepts and capabilities.
