Duties

The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) is a statutorily created independent entity that works to prevent fraud, waste, abuse, and misconduct in DOJ programs and personnel, and to promote economy and efficiency in those programs. The Office of Data Analytics (ODA) is responsible for supporting the OIG's audits, evaluations, investigations, and special reviews of the personnel and programs of all DOJ components. The goal of the Data Analytics program is to: (1) develop the OIG's capability to manage large datasets to support various OIG projects; (2) develop models to automatically identify indicators of fraud and other high-risk programs and/or transactions; and (3) represent the Department in its interactions with all federal Departments and agencies regarding data analytics activities, policies, standards, and programs.

As an IT Specialist (Applications Software), your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Installing applications and configuring them to interact with data stack and other applications and pays attention to details while orchestrating inter-operable systems
  • Rapidly developing visualizations, dashboards and reusable components using Power BI or such tools
  • Working in DataOps delivery environments such as Agile, DevOps, Lean and Data Analytics
  • Designing and implementing analytical visualizations with Power BI associative data model and Script Editor
  • Employing visual analytics best practices and development processes
  • Integrating reporting components from multiple data sources
  • Analyzing and documenting existing data, data flows, data requirements, and reporting needs
  • Developing visually pleasing reports that convey maximum amount of information in least amount of screen real-estate
  • Administering day-to-day the application such as performance tuning, user management paying attention to details related to data authorization for individual users and groups
  • Quickly responding to customer needs by adjusting reports that meets and exceeds customer expectations
  • Communicating reports to technical and non-technical audience through oral presentations, briefings, and seminars
  • Anticipating and identifying problems during design phase and solves problems before they are in development and deployment phase of product cycle avoiding costly rework
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience: To qualify for this position, your resume must display that you possess One year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at least equivalent to the GS-2210-13 IT Specialist position, having hands-on experience serving as an administrator for Power BI in Azure, Tableau, Qlik or Business Objects.
