Summary

This position is located in the Division of Information Technology (DIT), Chief Information Officer Organization, (CIOO), of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and provides support in the areas of Infrastructure Operations Services Branch (IOSB).

Duties

At the full performance level, major duties include:

  • Leads FDIC in the development, testing, configuration of Cloud-based enterprise-wide technologies, including the development of FDIC Microsoft Azure Cloud computing services such Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS)
  • Develops automation services in compliance with FDIC solution architecture.
  • Serves as the Project Technical Lead for cloud-based products and services for the FDIC.
  • Leads high-level projects for the rapid deployment of specialized systems to the FDIC.
  • Provides advisory services on, or independently drafts, requirements for new cloud-based initiatives, and evaluating and testing cloud-based products to determine which products best meet the IT requirements of the Corporation.
  • Creates briefs and gives presentations to generate an understanding of architecture.
  • Analyzes capabilities and cost of Cloud-based solutions and makes recommendation to procure and implement the solutions and services to meet FDIC business needs.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CG/GS-12 grade level or above in the Federal service.  Specialized experience is defined as experience in architecting, designing, building, securing, testing of the implementation of Microsoft Cloud services to include Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft Azure, and enterprise logging technologies.

You must have Information Technology (IT)-related experience which demonstrates proficiency in each of the following competencies:

• Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

  2. Knowledge of Microsoft Azure architecture to design, configure, implement, maintain and optimize SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS products for agency-wide use in meeting business and security requirements. 
  3. Skill in applying automation techniques to deploy solutions to cloud based technologies.
  4. Skill in applying IT Project Management techniques to conduct all phases of the IT project life cycle on creating and/or modifying and improving enterprise-wide cloud-based infrastructure, service applications and tools.
  5. Skill in creating, leading and facilitating working groups and project teams, to identifying needs.
  6. Ability to conduct research, recommend, test and deploy of specialized systems.
  7. Ability to communicate orally.
  8. Ability to communicate in writing.
