Job Description (Please follow all instructions carefully)

Summary

As an IT Specialist (INFOSEC) GS-14 with the US Office of Personnel Management (OPM), Office of the Inspector General (OIG) you will serve as a subject matter expert responsible for planning, coordinating, and deploying information system security solutions. You will also be tasked with monitoring OIG IT systems, identifying current threats, mitigating vulnerabilities, and advising staff and leadership on matters pertaining to cybersecurity.

Duties

  • Serve as the subject matter expert regarding the implementation of all information system and security requirements established by federal authorities.
  • Lead IT projects that involve addressing complex technical issues, high-level negotiations, and/or development of solutions to difficult problems.
  • Design strategies to maintain and implement enhancements to the OIG Information System Security/Information Assurance program.
  • Analyze results from a variety of risk monitoring efforts and presents results to management.
  • Determine continuous monitoring objectives and develops custom testing and designs review strategies for OIG information systems.

Qualifications

Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-13 level in the Federal government (or equivalent) performing the following duties:
  • Designing and implementing advanced security strategies for information systems.
  • Leading IT security risk assessments and vulnerability management, analyzing complex data to identify and mitigate security threats.
  • Developing and coordinating security and privacy controls to improve system security and enhance protection of sensitive information.
  • Overseeing cybersecurity projects, managing multiple stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of security enhancements and mitigation strategies.
  • Creating and reviewing IT security policies, aligning them with organizational needs and federal regulations to maintain a secure IT environment.
