Duties

Job Summary

The Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) provides operations support services and business solutions to the community of 10,000 House Members, Officers and staff. The CAO organization comprises more than 650 technical and administrative staff working in a variety of areas, including information technology, finance, budget management, human resources, payroll, child care, food and vending, procurement, logistics and administrative counsel.

Key responsibilities include supporting the daily operations of the L&S/Furnishings Cabinet Shop; assisting the Manager with running day-to-day shop operations; assigning daily work; serving as the lead person on one or more specific operations of the shop; performing complicated furniture design, construction, and repair; and performing activities related to shop machinery upkeep, service calls, safety, customer service, and employee development. Provide consistent customer service delivery in a consultative and solutions-based environment to customers and stakeholders through outreach and issue resolution; and consultation and training related to shop processes and procedures.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities

  • Ensures that the servicing, repairing, calibrating, regulating, fine tuning, or testing of machines, devices, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of electrical or electronic principles is recorded and follows manufacturer’s recommended guidelines.
  • Assists Manager with customer requirements; draws detailed design specifications using computer-aided drawing programs.
  • Assists Manager with planning, scheduling, and monitoring activities and projects, as well as the work of others, including tracking progress to ensure activities are on target and monitoring and controlling resources.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers and customers to resolve critical issues that impede providing required services (in person, in writing, by email, or on phone).
  • Performs other official duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience
  • Complete knowledge in all aspects of the trade to include consulting with clients, intricate and complicated furniture design and construction from start to finish.
  • Thorough working knowledge of Mozaik CNC software design.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Sketchup.
