You must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-11 level. Specialized experience is defined as: Preparing written assessments of the effects of construction, operation, or maintenance of infrastructure facilities on public outdoor recreation.
• Examples of infrastructure facilities include: dams, levees, surface water intakes, canals, flumes, water and wastewater treatment systems, storm water retention and control structures, hydropower projects, roads, pipelines, airports, solar arrays, windfarms, fossil-fueled generating plants, and nuclear plants.
• Examples of public outdoor recreation include: boating, canoeing, kayaking, angling, camping, and hiking.
• Examples of written assessments include study reports, research papers, journal articles, environmental assessments, and graduate theses.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including any volunteer experience.
