Summary

The Senate Sergeant at Arms is seeking a Passport Issuance Manager. The complete vacancy announcement and application can be found on the United States Senate Career Page at https://sen.gov/J5NY. Duties

Plans, directs, organizes, evaluates staff performance, and manages the Senate Passport Office. Plans and coordinates functional program areas such as training, anti-fraud, acceptance agent’s operations, and monitors and evaluates all activities for the passport office. Adjudicates applications that involve both a limited and full range of identity and citizenship determinations and include circumstances for which proof may be difficult to establish. Examines passport applications and supporting documents for acceptability as proof of citizenship, identity, and for official and diplomatic passports, appropriate authorization, entitlement, and information. Processes, monitors and tracks all payments related to services required. Other duties as assigned.

Other Duties/ Responsibilities

  • May serve as Acting Senate Deputy Postmaster in his/her absence.
  • Oversees the budget for the Passport Office. As this is a customer service job, ability to speak to Senate staff, and the general public, when answering questions or fulfilling service requests.
  • Assigns case work on a continuing basis according to a standardized control system or assigns other work by providing standing general instructions about timeliness, objectives, and relative priorities.
  • Accountable for tracking and monitoring payments related to services required.
  • Works with the State Department to coordinate the delivery and pick up of passport applications.

Required Work Experience

  • 5-8 years of experience in passport management and oversight functions.

Required Special Skills/ Knowledge

  • Ability to analyze facts contained in applications, documentary evidence, affidavits, and statements of applicants and witnesses.
  • Ability to research policy and regulatory material to determine requirements for specific situations.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and staff of Senate offices.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Issuance Agent Passport Acceptance Certification.
  • Ability to operate camera equipment for passport photos.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk for extended periods.
  • This position requires in-person presence at meetings/briefing and must independently plan and carry out the work, resolving conflicts, coordinating with others, and interpreting policies to meet planned or program objectives.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, public administration.
