A selectee receiving a first appointment to the Federal Government (Civil Service) is entitled only to the lowest step of the grade for which selected. The display of a salary range on this vacancy shall not be construed as granting an entitlement to a higher rate of pay.
A Relocation Incentive May Be Authorized for a Federal employee when the employee must move, as directed by the National Park Service (NPS) either through a management directed reassignment or selection for employment, to a different location at least 50 miles away from the one where his/her position of record held at time of selection is currently located, due to a need of the NPS. A relocation incentive is not the same as a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move and, as such, may be granted in conjunction with one another.

Physical Demands: The incumbent is involved in both indoor and outdoor work with some periods of physical activity that includes standing and walking. The incumbent must maintain a valid motor vehicle license and is required to drive to sites within National Capital Parks-East and to meetings in the Washington, D.C. metro area.
Working Conditions: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, in all types of weather associated with a temperate weather system. Summers are very hot and occasionally there may be permit monitoring in very hot and humid weather. The incumbent will be required to work in cold, wet, and hot conditions. Some assignments may take incumbent to large-scale events/demonstrations or other activities on parklands and situations which require clearance, including visits by high-level government officials. The nature of this work requires the incumbent to be available to work some weekends holidays and evenings when necessary although most of the work is performed in the office, Monday through Friday.
The National Park Service has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.
